3:00 again… at my work table in the sunroom (known to others as a dining table and a dining room 😉 ), and I look out the window, and there it is again… the moon against that lovely pale blue backdrop of the sky.
Seeing stephensmustang‘s background with the photo’s of the horses conjures up memories of my childhood.
I miss my childhood.
Did you know that my first name, Cynthia, means Luna (no not loony) – child of the moon? Moon child. 🙂
The name of a moon goddess. 🙂
Could this explain my fascination with the moon, and walks in the night?
a few interesting facts:
The name was invented by a Latin poet during the time of Jesus. He wrote the Odes to Cynthia, some of the earliest known love poetry. This poet wrote in the style of the Greeks and the name was originally Kynthia, meaning “from Mount Kynthus” a mountain on the island of Delos. Apollo was from Delos and he was the god of poetry. Cynthia was not the woman in the poems, she was the muse. So, in the style of the Greeks, her name is invoked at the beginning of each poem.
Wish I had someone who wrote odes to me. 🙂
Cynthia is the muse for love poetry.
Never was a muse as great
As Cynthia, who wandered late
And inspired the poets in the night
Who loved to walk in the moon light.
So, if I live up to my name, I am a goddess, and a muse. 😀
Lynn means – ‘She knows’
So my full name:
the moon (or moon goddess), she knows 😀
Is that creepy, mysterious, or intriguing?
[edit: Ok, so I just realized ‘She knows’ was the name of the website that gives the meanings for names. 😛
Did I say something not too long ago about losing my mind?
Yes, I feel quite silly at this moment.]
Evidently the name Lynn has to do with water…
so moon lake, or moon waterfall would be more accurate for my full name.
I rather like the sound of both… now I will break into song….
~ by the light, of the silvery moon ~
This is so sweet
Oh how I miss the days of sweet innocence.
You have to be careful with moon shine.

OhMYgosh! I find it intriguing! 🙂
How wonderful to be named after the moon! I adore the moon and enjoy my night walks to gaze at it and talk to The Man in it! 🙂
I wrote a blog post recently about the meaning of names and then didn’t post it. Maybe I should post it this week. I love knowing the meaning of names and often they fit the person SO well…even tho’ I’m sure most parents in the Olden Days did NOT look up the meaning of a name before naming their child.
One of my friends gave me the nickname “Moonbeam”! I loved that! 🙂
❤ and HUGS to you my beautiful Moon friend!!! 🙂

I thought, the moon, she knows, sounded kind of creepy. lol
I often wonder what forces in the universe go to work according to the names we are given at birth. 😉
The Hebrew considered names very important and gave them most meaningfully.
I wonder if certain names can be a curse.
Thanks moon friend, just no ‘mooning’ please. 😉

Well, I saw it as “she knows the moon”…which I think is cool. The moon is an amazing creation to know and appreciate. 🙂
Yes, I know some cultures don’t name the baby until AFTER they get to know the child for awhile and see what their personality, etc., is like. That is interesting to me. 🙂
Okay, no “mooning” tonight! 😉 😛
